We have produced over 9000 silicone rubber profiles for customers across the globe – working closely with our clients to ensure we understand project requirements and develop the perfect solution to meet your needs. The technical team at Viking Extrusions use their vast experience in manufacturing rubber profiles, providing advice on design for manufacturing (DFM) and taking ideas from a concept through to production, including sustainable manufacturing and choosing the right material for your application to ensure our product is tailored to your exact specifications.

Box Section

A rectangular profile with one or multiple hollow sections with in them. They can have square or radius corners and are commonly used for conduits, resin mould blanks and infilling gaps.

D Section

D Sections are used for a wide variety of sealing applications. They can be joined into rings to make lid seals.

E Section

E shaped silicone seals are versatile and durable, and are used widely across industries. Rubber E sections provide an easy solution to door seals and are often used in applications ranging from ovens to cryogenic chambers.

L Section

L sections are used in capping applications and for edging bumpers. Specific uses include window shutters, lighting and swimming pool LED covers.

Lip Seal

Silicone lip seals are generally used for seals on containers or hatches. They are primarily utilised to exclude contaminants such as dust whilst retaining fluids, or to separate fluids and confine pressure.

P Section

P seals are made to increase hold even as the forces of compression intensify — and are very resistant to environmental, chemical and weathering forces. Ideal for hatch seals, door seals, and for piping between panels on automobiles.

T Section

T sections or ‘T section rubber seals’ are commonly used for heat sealing on packing machines. The ‘tee’ shape allows it to form a t section rubber seal between two surfaces in the same plane.

Tadpole

Tadpoles, like P sections can be hollow or solid and are commonly used in windscreens, oven and door seals.

Trapezium

Trapezium sections offer bespoke sealing solutions for a wide variety of applications. Trapezium profiles can be used for seals of large diameter, or seals where the groove should hold the gasket when the flange is raised.

U Channel

U channels are used for edge seals in multiple applications including skirting, doors, conveyor belts vats and lid seals.

U Channel with Bulb

U channels are used for edge seals in multiple applications and the addition of a bulb helps to keep out air, water, dust, and noise. They are most often used along doors and can be placed on the hinge side or on the strike side.

Profile Applications

How can Silicone Profiles be used?

We manufacture silicone rubber profiles from many different types of compounds and are confident we will be able to deliver the perfect solution for your industry purposes. The most popular types of silicone profiles we provide are:

General purpose silicone profiles

The most common type of our general-purpose silicone is FDA-approved and can be pigmented to almost any colour.

Platinum cured silicone profiles

Our platinum-cured silicone has excellent biocompatibility and is FDA and USP Class VI approved, making it suitable for medical and pharmaceutical applications. Platinum-cured silicone has high tear strength and transparency and is commonly used in food processing, peristaltic pumps and many other applications.

Heat stabilised silicone profiles

Suitable for applications up to 260°C.

High temperature silicone tubing

Suitable for applications up to 300°C.

Metal-detectable silicone tubing

X-ray-detectable silicone used for food processing applications.

Flame retardant silicone profiles

Available to EN45545-2 specifications for rail applications and FAR/JAR 25.823 for aerospace usage.

Conductive silicone profiles

Semi-conductive compound with low volume resistivity, used for electro-conductive parts, EMI shielding and heating elements.

The advantages of silicone rubber profiles

Silicone rubber is an inorganic synthetic elastomer made from a cross-linked silicone-based polymer, offering a unique set of advantageous properties which cannot be matched by other organic elastomers, including:

Non-reactive

Silicone rubber is highly inert, meaning it does not react with the environment or most chemicals, making it the elastomer of choice for food and medical applications.

Thermal conductivity

Silicone rubber has a higher thermal conductivity than most other rubbers, with products containing high thermal conductivity used to make products such as heating rollers and thermal interface sheets.

Resistant to Ozone and UV

Silicone has superior weathering resistance compared to organic rubbers, whose carbon composition leaves them susceptible to UV, Ozone and other ageing factors.

Temperature resistant

Silicone rubber can operate in temperatures from -60°C to + 300°C. Even at extreme temperatures, silicone rubber maintains its mechanical properties such as tear strength, tensile strength, compression set and elongation.

Moisture and steam resistance

Silicone rubber can be immersed in cold, hot or boiling water for long periods without its mechanical or electrical properties being affected. Additionally, silicone can withstand steam under ordinary pressure, with specialist steam resistant grades available.
